Disclosing intimate partner abuse is often difficult and not everyone wants to do so at work, whether for personal reasons, the psychological impacts of abuse, or concerns about how the employer will respond.
Framework in a workplace
Identify a workplace policy as best practice Individuals may not be aware of the existing offer or may not feel comfortable asking for help as well as their specific employer do not have an approach in place or is unfamiliar with the issue.
Wherever possible, have a policy on intimate partner abuse in place. To break the silence on intimate partner abuse and bring about culture change, the issue needs to be visible across the workplace.
